My mom has been making this salad dressing for us since I was a kid. And before that, her mom made it for her…and her grandmother before. So I’ve been eating it for awhile. Only recently, though, did I ask for the recipe and find out how easy it was to make!
And since I’m currently using the 21 Day Fix to help measure out my portions and be smart about my food, I thought I’d refresh this recipe a bit to make it a21 Day FixRanch Dressing.

{updated: I’ve added Weight Watchers points at the bottom of this post, and guess what? This is a 1 point Ranch dressing recipe, woohoo!}
21 Day Fix Ranch Dressing
{random side note…my mom grew up calling this “Western Dressing” – which is to say, it’s not quite Ranch, but I’m not really sure why…all I know is that I love it, it’s easy to make, and with these little tweaks it’s WW and 21 Day Fix-friendly!}
Can I have Ranch Dressing on the 21 Day Fix?
Yes! The trick is to find a clean, whole foods recipe.
Although some store-bought salad dressings are approved, the list is few and far between due to all of the preservatives and crappy ingredients that get added. So, stick with a homemade version and you’ll be fine.
What container is Ranch dressing on the 21 Day Fix?
That will depend on your recipe. Some recipes, like this one from my friend Stephanie over at The Foodie and the Fix, count as a red. The recipe you see here is an orange container because it uses buttermilk. Each recipe will be different based on the ingredients used to create them.
It’s best never to assume. Always check the ingredients against your list of containers so you can see which ones to track for every recipe. Again, this one counts as an Orange on Portion Fix and 21 Day Fix because of the buttermilk!
Is there a low point Weight Watchers Ranch Dressing?
Yes, my friend, and you have found it here. However, it’s important to note that ONE SERVING is one points on all three plans. If you were to eat the whole thing, it would be more than that. So be honest with yourself when tracking how much you’re eating! But also you’re probably not going to eat the whole recipe in one sitting, so…
If you want to make this into a zero point recipe on all three plans you can consider doing the following:
- Use fat free versions of the dairy products. It will knock the points down considerably on all plans. That being said, I can’t vouch for how it will taste without any fat in the diary products since I don’t make it that way!
To make the 21 Day Fix Ranch Dressing Seasoning:
Here’s the list of ingredients we’ll use to make the ranch dressing seasoning which is then mixed in with our went ingredients. You can also use this seasoning for other things like dip, seasoning meat, and more!
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 teaspoons dehydrated parsley flakes
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
Put all ingredients in a jar or small container and shake well (a ziplock also works well!). Store in an airtight container. Shake before measuring to use.
To make this homemade ranch dressing you’ll need:
- 3-1/2 teaspoons 21 Day FixDressing Mix (you should have plenty left over for another batch – seal this up and stick it in your spice drawer for later!)
- 1 cup reduced fat Greek yogurt (if you’re not on the 21 Day Fix or following Weight Watchers, you can use sour cream)
- 1 cup low-fat buttermilk
Stir ingredients together and store in covered container in the refrigerator. It tastes bestafter sitting in the fridge overnight, but a few hours will do, too!
This will make quite a bit – around 15 servings at 2 tablespoons each.
The good news is, two servings (that’s right, TWO) is equal to one orange container. Woohoo! More Ranch for you. And me. And everyone! You can see a very similar recipe on the Beachbody website to confirm my container counts here.
