Air Fryer Brats

Yes, you can cook bratwurst in your air fryer! My favorite brand of brats is Johnsonville, so that's what I used for this recipe. They typically come with 5 sausages in a pack.

Best Air Fryer Brats (2)

The great thing about making sausages in your air fryer is that they cook super fast, without sacrificing flavor! Gone are the days where you need to break out the grill for that delicious smoky taste. Trust me, these air fryer bratwursts are just as good - if not better!

Ingredients

The only ingredient you'll need for this recipe is a pack of brats. They already come seasoned, so there's no need to add any additional seasonings to the sausage. As an added plus, they are also low carb and keto-friendly. They have 0 net carbs per serving!

I like to serve them with cooked sliced peppers and onions. Brats would also pair well with this Broccoli Salad with Bacon and Cheddar, or sauerkraut.

Air Fryer Bratwurts Temperature and Cook Time

These air fryer brats are done in 15 minutes when cooked at a 350-degree air fryer temperature setting. They are considered done when they reach an internal temperature of at least 160 degrees.

I recommend flipping them over halfway through the cooking time to ensure both sides of the sausage are browned evenly.

Can you put aluminum foil in the air fryer?

Yes, you can! However, it depends on how you are using the foil in the air fryer. It is perfectly safe to wrap food in foil, and air fry it. On the other, using foil while cooking more acidic food could cause your food to have an acidic taste.

How to cook brats in an air fryer

  1. Arrange the brats in the air fryer.
  2. Air fry at 350 degrees for 12 - 15 minutes, flipping the sausages over halfway through the cooking time.
  3. Remove brats from the oven, and allow them to rest for 5 minutes. Then, enjoy!

Best Air Fryer Brats (5)

Serve brats with sauteed onions and peppers for a delicious meal idea! These work well for breakfast, lunch, and dinner alike.

There you have it! A quick and easy way to enjoy one of your favorite classics!

How accurate is the nutritional information? It just seems incredible when you compare it to what is on the package. TIA

Hi Vicky, if using Johnsonville brats the recipe would have 2g carbs (it's also 2 net carbs). The nutrition information on the site is calculated based on the ingredients I list for the recipe. Considering that I used Johnsonville for this recipe, I will update the carb count to 3. Keep in mind that nutritional information varies based on the brand you are using. I hope that you enjoy them! Thank you!

This will be the 3rd time I've submitted this question, how accurate is the nutritional information you have listed? It is quite different from the package and I'd really like to know does the air fryer change the info that much. TIA!

To answer the readers questions regarding the nutrition information...go off of the package you have at home and are cooking. I suspect that the calorie content has a typo as one brat is definitely closer to 250 calories and not 57 calories. Sorry! Hope that helps though.

Tonight I cooked the Johnsonville Italian Sausage brats in my Power XL air fryer. They were excellent! Cooked for 7 minutes at 365 degrees flipped over and cooked for another 6 minutes. Just before serving cooked another 2 minutes at 265 degrees to reheat. Using the parchment paper makes cleanup so easy!

My local grocery store had amazing "craft" brats. Worked fabulous for my bacon cheddar and pineapple brats!! Wonderful.

Don't wrap food in foil when air frying, hot air driven by the fan is supposed to contact the food directly. To aid in clean up you can line the bottom of the main hopper with foil, but not the basket.

Thanks for the feedback, I typically use foil in my air fryer with this recipe with no issue. I'll definitely give your suggestion a try next time.

If you only cook 2 instead of the five is the time still the same? I am just learning to use the air fryer, only 2nd time. Thanks

Hi there! I would go with about 10 - 12 minutes for 2 brats. You can use a knife to check the middle to make sure they are completely done. They should have an internal temperature of at least 160 degrees prior to eating. Thank you!

Thank you for the timing and the recipe. I need to chill on the carb and sugar intake (type 2 diabetes) so it’s great to hear if you throw in some peppers and onions you can use that fiber to get to 0 net carbs. Because I love brats!
