How to make Sugar Free Peanut Butter Bars

  • Start by prepping a 9 X 13 or similar sized pan for nonstick. Greasing it works best although, I have used parchment before (makes it easy to remove and cut!).
  • In a mixing bowl, whip together 1 ½ cups of peanut butter and the butter.
  • To the mixing bowl, add the powdered sugar a bit at a time (like in thirds), mixing between the additions. Then stir in the graham cracker crumbs.
  • Spread this mixture into your prepped baking dish, pressing it in as you go.
  • Stir together the remaining peanut butter and the melted chocolate and then pour it over the pressed peanut butter bars. Optional- sprinkle the sea salt over this. Place this into the refrigerator until hard before cutting into bars.

There is a misconception that sugar alternatives can be used in a recipe just as you you use sugar.

Everyone knows that a sugar alternative can make something taste sweet to us without have the many effects that sugar does on the body. However, there is more to sugar alternatives then just taste.

Sugar alternatives are not chemically the same as sugar.
That chemical difference can be a big deal when it comes to recipes. There is a lot to learn if you are serious in baking with sugar alternatives. I have more in depth explanations about sugar alternatives in my book, The Sugar Free Baking Guide.

Does not show how much peanut butter to use in original instructions. How much is mixed with chocolate?

    • TheSugarFreeDiva

Hi. It's 2 cups of peanut butter that are divided. We use 1 1/2 cups in the second step of the instructions leaving us with 1/2 cup to use later on. Thanks !!
